I AM A CHAMPION
Premieres on OETA
Sunday, October 18, 2009
Over a year ago, Jay Perkins, Special Olympics Oklahoma Executive Board Member, had a dream of creating a documentary for Special Olympics Oklahoma. His idea was to complete the project in time for the 40th anniversary of Special Olympics Oklahoma. This year his dream and this project have come to fruition. Our 40th anniversary documentary ran on Cox Communications Cable stations multiple times in August and September. It continues to be available on Cox On Demand.
On Sunday, October 18, OETA will air the I Am A Champion documentary for the first time. The I Am A Champion documentary chronicles the compelling stories of three diverse Special Olympics Oklahoma athletes in their quest to compete in the 40th Annual Special Olympics Oklahoma Summer Games. Each athlete tells their own story with the supporting cast of their parents, coaches, siblings, employers and friends.
The hope and intent of the I Am A Champion documentary concept is to endear the audience to each of the athletes, and to compel viewers to make an emotional investment in their stories. We also believe this documentary will educate and inspire the viewer as they experience the unfolding of each athlete's journey.
Place October 18 on your calendar. It will be an evening you will long remember.
